Some people refer to it as candle magic while others call it color therapy or spiritual color work. People are comfortable working with candles since many have been exposed to it at a young age. For example the tradition of singing happy birthday, making a wish and blowing out the candles. Does that sound like manifesting to you? Others that were brought up in religion and going to church have lit a candle for a specific intention. In the Catholic church we call lighting a candle with a wish or prayer for a specific outcome a Novena. One of the biggest reasons to work with candle magic or manifestations is simply because it’s so easy to do it.
Specific colors represent different things and can help with the various gifts associated with them, like green for healing or for manifesting more abundance in your life. I think of it also as color therapy when I am working with candles or even eating foods of a specific color, wearing that particular color to manifest. We all have various colors in our auras depending on what is going on in our lives or from our past experiences when the energy has gotten stuck in our auras. Our energy field has colors and colors are a part of us. Some people can see this clairvoyantly, we can all see it when we get an aura photograph of our energy field.

Candles Can Shift The Energy
The first thing to know is that even unlit you can work with a candle to shift the energy in the area that you’re using it in. If you feel turmoil in your home you can simply put white candles in various areas with the intention of bringing peace and harmony. You can also use a black candle to absorb the negativity of the space if it feels heavy and unwelcoming. Sometimes we may not feel safe lighting a candle perhaps because of pets, young children or for myself because of staying in an RV. You can place a candle in a glass bowl filled with either water or sand to prevent fires. I did this and placed them in the kitchen sink for extra safety.
They’re used to amplify the energy of the color energy we are working with and the intention that we are setting. You can also use different colors to help support and promote your various desires to manifest into your reality. When lit, not only do they amplify but they release that energy, especially if you add certain crystals to aid in the amplification. People use candles in rituals, such as religion, others use them in spells, and others to promote their manifestations. Use the candles in the method that makes you feel comfortable and say. This is just an additional technique to manifest your intentions, it gives you a focal point that you can use to meditate with.
Why Is The Flame Important In Candle Magic?
Fire is one of the four elements as in earth, water, air and fire. Fire is the powerful force behind working with candle magic. You are working with color therapy, intention manifestation and the powerful energy of fire. The element of fire has the property to transform. Fire is used in some religions because it’s considered to be spiritual and possess purity. It has an ability to purify, as in the saying baptism by fire.
Fire is associated with wisdom and knowledge, you can see this with symbolism for Archangel Uriel depicted with a flame. Fire is associated with the presence of God as well.
Fire transforms everything it comes into contact with and you want to harness the energy of transformation to quickly bring about change in your life. Think about the phoenix rising from the ashes. We want to channel that powerful energy into our desires by using fire in candle magic. When we do our intentions and burn the paper we are releasing our wishes using the element of fire and air to bring the messages to the spiritual realm.
Color Magic Therapy
This is an easy and fun way to manifest. It’s important to know what each color represents or symbolizes. Different colors have different energy, having a different frequency. This energy is what we want to access when we are doing candle magic. Either placing the candle on our special altar, or in a specific part of our home will bring that energy forward, even more so by burning the candle to harness the color’s energy. Another way to access color magic is by wearing clothes of that color, even if it’s socks or panties hidden under your clothes, it still works. A powerful way to work with color therapy is to decorate your home with the color and last but not least you can eat foods of that color to access the energy. One of my favorite ways is to work with colors using the properties of feng shui of a red purse with a black wallet or black purse with a red wallet to bring in abundance and prosperity.
The Ease Of Color Magic
Candle work is one of my favorite spiritual rituals to practice for so many reasons!
It’s so easy, it doesn’t take hours of your time. You can make it as fancy and complex as you desire. You’re in control of creating your own traditions.
It’s inexpensive to buy candles. They can be pricey but there is no reason that you have to spend a lot of money. You can find them relatively inexpensive in several locations and very easy to find.
Depending on the spiritual ritual you have created or depending on the season you can practice candle magic either inside or outside, your personal preference.
I Love working with candle magic because I love to light them whenever possible. I can easily feel the shift of energy in the atmosphere. Even as a teenager I loved lighting candles in my bedroom because it brought a tremendous amount of peace into my space.
With candle magic you’re using more than one energetic force. Thoughts and words are spoken intentions, writing on the candle is another energetic form and the power of the fire element. We can also bless the intention candle to give it an additional energy boost. Now that’s a lot of power put into creating your manifestations!
You can also use a specific colored ribbon to help work with the color energy. You can also write your intentions on the matching color paper that you want to draw the energy in from that color.
Does Size Matter?
When we use candles to assist us in meditation either by setting the mood, protection, or to invite the angels in, it’s said that we are already working with candle magic. A rule of thumb is the bigger the candle, it will burn longer, hence put more energy into our intention. You can buy large candles in glass and write down the sides or long tapered dinner candles or large, chunky candles. Often when it’s a big intention people will buy the candles that either burn for 24 hours or 7 days. If you think about it, when you have the longer candles burning, everytime you see it you think about what you are manifesting. Once your focus is brought to it, time and time again your energy is put out to the ethers of what you are manifesting and bringing into reality.
Use it in the way that you desire, some individuals like to use it in a spell, others in a religious sense as a prayer form. While other people like me use it for manifesting, clearing energy, using it to absorb negativity, you can add crystals, herbs, essential oil whatever you feel guided to use in your spiritual practice. The beauty of it is the ease and limitless creative options to create your own rituals or traditions. I grew up using it also during the month of December for advent and I have such warm fond memories. Many of our Christian practices have originated from the previous pagan rituals. So please don’t get spooked but realize you’ve been working with candle magic all along.
Helpful Tips To Get Started
Good rule of thumb is to always use a fresh candle for each new intention or ritual. Like everything else, candles hold a vibration from the last us. Would you think of starting a fresh meal using a saucepan that has the old meal residue stuck inside of it? You want a new candle that you can rinse in water to clear it from the energy of anyone touching it before it found you. You can do an energetic clearing if you prefer. After it’s clear of all energy and intention that has nothing to do with your purpose you want to program it much the same way that you would program a crystal. These acts alone help boost the energy of the candle that you’re choosing to work with for your ritual or manifestation ceremony.
Another energy boost and to make your particular practice more special or revenant is to add other elements or ingredients such as anointing it with an oil or surround it with herbs to help work towards the goal of your special intention. You can carve special intentional words or symbols directly into the candle or if you work with runes you can place them around your candle as well as crystals that carry the energy of the goal that you desire.
When it’s time to start your special manifestation celebration you want to make sure that you do it in an area of your sacred space and visualize what you desire to create by seeing the visual as if it’s already come into manifestation. You want to come from a place of gratitude, not wishing and wanting energy which is restrictive energy. You want a free flowing energy, completely free of any restrictions.
An excellent way to practice your celebration rituals is to prepare the space, the candle, have the various supporting elements you desire to use, visualize your goal and if you can meditate on your desired outcome. I like to use small magick candles if I want my focus to remain on the manifestation. If I have a larger candle I will often write out my desires, say for full or new moon, a letter to my guides and every time I see the candle burning in my sacred space my focus is brought back to my desired manifestation. It’s best to burn the candle to completion. If for some reason you need to relight the candle for the same goals, become clear and focused and repeat the previous vision and hold the intention.
Effective Easy Way To Manifest
Candle magick is a fun and effective way to manifest your dreams into reality. It can be as simple or elaborate as you desire and can be performed frequently as I do my green manifestation candle on Thursday’s. As long as you follow safety precautions, it’s an easy practice and you can save money by buying your candles in bulk. You can even use your plants to help, live the leaves from the basil plant can be used to help create abundance, and the crystals don’t have to be a lot of money and as long as you charge them they will help increase the energy to create the desired outcome.
Why not create some of your unique candle magic traditions, remember to make it fun and special for you to practice. When we enjoy something and it is not too complicated, there is a higher probability that we will actually keep doing it.
